World Market Home Office Makeover

As any of you following along know I have wanted to redecorate my ranch office for over a year now. I was completely stymied by the space and just could not figure out how to achieve the brighter more feminine room I dreamed of. With dark wood paneled walls and beautiful yet muted upholstered furniture my office often felt…well kind of gloomy and cave like. Though some might love that vibe I really struggled to feel comfortable and inspired in the space. I considered white washing the beautiful wood walls, replacing the dark tiled floor with something lighter and earthier or abandoning the space altogether and letting someone else use it as their office. Then, in one of those graceful moments when the stars align and the universe conspires in your favor World Market reached out through Instagram to ask if I had a project that I’d like to collaborate on. My ranch office came immediately to mind and I just knew this was the answer I was looking for.

If you’ve followed my stories at all you’ll know I am a giant World Market fan. I can spend hours in my local store pursuing everything from their furniture to their decor items to their kitchen goods. I have on more than one occasion spruced up different rooms in my house with their beautiful throw pillows and blankets. I brightened up my outdoor patio one summer with their colorful side tables, outdoor pillows and baskets. Speaking of baskets, every room in my house features at least one and in the kids rooms more like four to hold and store all of their toys in a beautiful and decorative way. Like I said, I’m a fan.

I had teamed up with a local interior designer Lia Aguirre to help me pull a look together. When World Market reached out I immediately put them in touch with Lia so we could get the ball rolling. I was far too excited about the collaboration to let any grass grow under my feet. Lia and I had debated a few very expensive changes to the room like painting or whitewashing the stained wood walls, reupholstering all the furniture, replacing the bathroom vanity with a lighter piece and I was feeling hesitant to make such giant changes as well as overwhelmed by the potential cost. Getting that DM from World Market with their generous offer to furnish the space for free if I’d be willing to share the experience with you all was…well…awesome! Suddenly Lia and I started rethinking those big costly changes and started wondering if there was a way to significantly brighten the room with World Market furniture, rugs and home decor items alone. We thought, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could transform my home office with their beautiful, comfortable and affordable pieces alone? Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could share an affordable transformation that doesn’t compromise on beauty, functionality or comfort with my fans? The answer was YES. So we decided to dive in and give it a go. I was utterly amazed by the transformation. I think you will be too. Keep scrolling to see the dramatic results of my World Market collaboration and be prepared to “Oooh” and “Ahhh” over my covetable home office!

I wish I could point to just a few of my favorite pieces but the problem is, there isn’t one piece I don’t absolutely adore. I know that sounds overly enthusiastic but it’s true. The black and white side chair, the gorgeous Peacock bookcase, the insanely comfortable and elegant sofa and storage ottoman. The throw pillows and floor cushions, the wood rattan cocoon chairs, the gorgeous table and floor lamps. The area rugs layered and eclectic and perfectly paired with one another, the blush pink desk chair, the faux fern wall pieces, the macrame bathroom chandelier, the rope wall scones. The elegantly beautiful side tables, the earthy wood coffee table, the hammered metal storage coffee table. I mean, you see my dilemma right? I just can’t pick a favorite. It all works so perfectly, so beautifully together and has given me the office of my dreams.

I have only had the pleasure of spending a few hours in my new office because by the time it was ready my break had ended and I was back to work. Traveling from LA to Florida to Toronto. As I sit here writing this at the kitchen island of another home away from home in Toronto I’m dreaming of that cozy, insanely comfortable white sofa. A throw blanket over my legs, computer on my lap. As my kids interrupt me every ten seconds I’m imagining the peace, quiet and tranquility of my Utah home office. The bright earthy bohemian vibe, laced with femininity and cozy elegance has me longing to spend every afternoon there soaking in the inspiration the space now offers me. I am beyond grateful to Lia of Area Design in Park City and World Market for making my ranch home office dreams come true! Next on my agenda is a redo of the kids playroom in Utah…just throwing it out there World Market 😉

Beautiful job, so soft looking now. All the rugs are a brilliant idea. Being honest tho’ would still do something to the walls. Maybe a soft pale color to harmonize.

I love how the peacock bookcases lighten up such a large area, as do the rugs. What a lovely space!
