World Market Home Office Makeover

As any of you following along know I have wanted to redecorate my ranch office for over a year now. I was completely stymied by the space and just could not figure out how to achieve the brighter more feminine room I dreamed of. With dark wood paneled walls and beautiful yet muted upholstered furniture my office often felt…well kind of gloomy and cave like. Though some might love that vibe I really struggled to feel comfortable and inspired in the space. I considered white washing the beautiful wood walls, replacing the dark tiled floor with something lighter and earthier or abandoning the space altogether and letting someone else use it as their office. Then, in one of those graceful moments when the stars align and the universe conspires in your favor World Market reached out through Instagram to ask if I had a project that I’d like to collaborate on. My ranch office came immediately to mind and I just knew this was the answer I was looking for.Continue Reading

Enter If You Dare…

Adalaide outside the spooky entryway
So I may have mentioned this already but my time has been spread pretty thin these days. Although I have wishes and dreams and desires to do all the creative things that inspire me and get my juices flowing it’s just not possible unless I’m willing to risk a total mental breakdown! Decorating my entire house for Halloween, throwing a big party with tons of friends and even turning the back half of the house into a haunted one all crossed my mind this fall, but then I slapped myself right across the face and got real. There was no way I was going to be able to pull off such ambitious endeavors  while doing everything else on my “Get it the Hell Done” list. So, I scaled back my over achieving expectations and decided to bring it down a notch. I realized I could still bring in a touch of that spooky Halloween spirit but in a smaller, more manageable, just as fun way. OK maybe not just as fun as turning my place into a haunted house, but fun enough!Continue Reading

Enter Spring!

Katherine Heigl - Front Entrance To Home
It has been a long cold, snowy winter in Utah this year. It was glorious, all that snow, during the holidays. A magical winter wonderland throughout January, and a skiers dream come true throughout March. Now that we’ve officially made it to May it’s become a bit of a drag! Yes we are still getting snow and when it’s not snow it’s rain and when it’s not rain it’s mud. I can not begin to tell you how excited I am for the weather to finally lighten up and bring with it the warm grass scented breezes of spring. In anticipation of those sunny days, that are surely on their way, I decided to take the Christmas wreath off my front door ( yeah I realize how late it is), pack up the plaid lap blanket and wintery throw pillows from the front porch chair; and do a bit of spring decorating. Maybe if I officially say adieu to winter the weather will follow suit! Continue Reading

A Little Space to Call My Own

About a month before I found out I was pregnant I decided to turn the nursery into my craft room. I mean no one was using it right? Adalaide had moved out a year earlier and Josh and I weren’t planning to expand our family for at least another 6 months to a year so I figured why let the space just sit there empty and unused. Thankfully I did have the foresight not to make any big permanent changes so when baby boy Kelley arrives I can pretty easily convert the space back into a nursery. All though I love it so much as my craft room I’m not sure I’ll be able to give it up! Our boy may have to share his room with my sewing machine!
