Holidays 2017: Birthday Trip to N.Y.C

Katherine Heigl celebrating her birthday in New York City
So in my last holiday post I mentioned that my birthday, falling the day after Thanksgiving, was kind of a s*#t show. The good news is that my friends and family more than made up for it with a badass trip to New York where we ate, shopped, rested, ate and ate some more! We celebrated my birthday three nights in a row at some of my new favorite restaurants in the city and got to see Josh play at the city winery on the Hudson Pier, which was the real reason and inspiration for the trip. When I found out he had two shows in the city early December and that our friends here in Utah had already booked their tickets so they could see him play I had the most intense FOMO ever! I’m not much of an impromptu traveler and usually choose to stay cozied up at home if given the option. This time however I couldn’t bare the thought of missing all the fun. There’s nothing like New York at Christmas time and I hadn’t been able to enjoy it in years. So I called up my sister and mother and convinced them to take the trip with me by using it as a great excuse for a much needed Heigl gals holiday getaway! So without further ado, here are all the pictures of our fabulous New York City trip and links to all the best spots we found in case you want to plan you’re own getaway soon.Continue Reading

New Years Resolutions

I haven’t done New Year’s resolutions in years. In my mid twenties I decided they were chock full of added pressure to be perfect and I was already plagued with plenty of perfectionist anxiety. This year however, I changed my mind. There was something calling me to put down in writing just a handful of things I’d like to resolve to do. This isn’t a “go big or go home” kind of resolution list. It is a quieter, subtler one that I truly believe I can achieve. It is a list of five things I resolve to do, not want to do or hope to do or intend to do. I resolve to do…I will do, because I actually can.Continue Reading

Holidays 2017: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving napkins
I have decided to do a blog series detailing my holidays starting with an inside look at my friends and family Thanksgiving and ending with my plans for next years Christmas. I know it’s a bit after the fact and may feel either irrelevant at the moment, or too soon to even be thinking about it, but because I took a bit of a blog break over the holiday season I wasn’t able to share this with you then. I guess I’m going with the better late than never narrative and hope you’ll agree!Continue Reading

My Almost Perfect Office Space

Calling all inspired decorators! I need your help! I have the perfect spot to call my office. A space where I can dream, plan, write, edit, research, read, and generally feel productive. A space where there are no demanding children demanding my attention. No dishes to wash, no laundry to do, no dogs to take care of (at least not my own,) no household chores begging to be done. Basically it has none of the distractions that derail my creative productivity at home. The only problem is…to be creative I kinda need to feel creative and this office space hasn’t been helping with that. In fact it’s sorta of hindered it to be honest. There’s so much that’s truly wonderful about it. The views, the beauty of the dark wood walls, the lovely purple hued plaid furniture, my great big elegant desk. It is elegant and sophisticated for sure, but it lacks…something. A certain warmth and brightness.Continue Reading
