My Almost Perfect Office Space

Calling all inspired decorators! I need your help! I have the perfect spot to call my office. A space where I can dream, plan, write, edit, research, read, and generally feel productive. A space where there are no demanding children demanding my attention. No dishes to wash, no laundry to do, no dogs to take care of (at least not my own,) no household chores begging to be done. Basically it has none of the distractions that derail my creative productivity at home. The only problem is…to be creative I kinda need to feel creative and this office space hasn’t been helping with that. In fact it’s sorta of hindered it to be honest. There’s so much that’s truly wonderful about it. The views, the beauty of the dark wood walls, the lovely purple hued plaid furniture, my great big elegant desk. It is elegant and sophisticated for sure, but it lacks…something. A certain warmth and brightness.Continue Reading

Taking A Break To Save Grace

I have recently had to make the hard decision to take a break from the blog. It is not a decision I come by lightly. The blog has been a true source of creativity, passion and connection for me and I have loved every second of it. However, in late September my constant companion Gracie Lou was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors told us that we needed to make an immediate decision about whether to take our chances with brain surgery or let Gracie go. Josh and I decided to give Gracie a shot at survival and opted for the brain surgery. Now, several months after the surgery and radiation treatments, we are spending a majority of our time tending to Gracie’s post op needs. It has been time consuming, worrisome and often heartbreaking but I am determined to give Gracie everything I’ve got to help her heal. She has been an incredible source of comfort, companionship, loyalty, love and joy for me from the moment I adopted her and I know in my soul I owe her as much as I can give in return. So, something else must give if I am to make Gracie a priority in an already busy, kid filled life. Since I can’t really table the whole mothering thing, it is the blog that must take a back seat. Every day brings with it minor but important improvements in Gracie’s behavior and health and I am hopeful that by the new year she will be back to her old self and I will be back to sharing all my Heavenly Days inspiration with you! Thank you for your continued support, your good wishes and your loyalty. May this holiday season bring you an abundance of peace, joy, love and laughter. See you in 2018!Continue Reading

A Belated Look At Our Family Halloween

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley wearing Russian nesting doll costumes for Halloween
This years Halloween costume search led me to the most fabulous Etsy store where I found the perfect costumes not just for the kids but for Josh and I too. I’ve never done a family themed Halloween before but it was so much fun and got us so much positive attention I’m thinking it may be our new Halloween tradition! For as long as I can talk the kids into it that is.Continue Reading

My Favorite Beauty Finds: Part 2

Katherine Heigl's Favorite Beauty Finds: Part 2
Perfect skin has always been a bit elusive for me. Well that’s not totally true. In my early teens I had flawless skin that I totally took for granted. Then I hit about 18 and was riddled with the most persistent, ugly, cystic acne imaginable. I was totally mortified by it, but unable to clear it up no matter how many facials, tonics, ointments or creams I tried. Finally, at my wits end I succumbed to my dermatologist’s pressure to try the much debated Accutane. It did clear my acne up in about a month but left me with a pretty sensitive stomach and highly sensitive skin. I still suffer from the occasional hormonal breakout even now, and on top of the indignity of zits at 38, I’m also dealing with wrinkles. So now I need products that combat both, which seems wholly unfair to me but as the saying goes, the weather may be fair, but life never is.Continue Reading
