TV Trailer Makeover

Katherine Heigl In Her Trailer For TV Show Suits

Ever since I became an actor my home away from home has been my on set trailer. When I was a kid I started out in a honey wagon, which is a block of six or so closet sized rooms attached to one another on wheels. Once I’d earned my stripes I was upgraded to a triple banger (I realize how that sounds but I didn’t coin the phrase) which is three slightly larger rooms attached to one another on wheels. After the triple banger came the double banger. Yup, you guessed it, two even bigger rooms attached to one another on wheels. I have fond memories of my trailer neighbors, the other actors in the adjoining room, and being subject to their blaring heavy metal music (Brendan Fehr on Roswell listened exclusively to Metallica at ear splitting decibels) or their blaring afternoon television shows (Justin Chambers on Grey’s Anatomy loved him some Judge Judy.) I know you wouldn’t think it but I actually miss those shared trailer days and my co-star neighbors! I really love those guys! Anyway, these days, after almost 30 years in the business of being an actor I have upgraded to a single trailer all my own. Making my at work space feel homey, comfortable and peaceful is usually my first priority when I start a new job.

Most trailers are pretty basic and kind of masculine in decor. My trailer on Suits is no exception. There’s a lot of dark wood, brown suede and brown accents. Honestly when I first walked in I was kind of at a loss decor wise. I didn’t know if I should bring in some bright colors or funky patterns or just some candles to try to lighten the mood. Luckily my super space savvy girlfriend Lisa Zolinger was visiting me in Toronto and took control of the trailer redo situation. She effortlessly and graciously saved me from making the wrong purchases and some terrible design mistakes! Lisa and her husband Josh are a realtor dream team in Orange County, CA, and it often falls to Lisa to stage the houses she and her husband are selling. She has cultivated an incredible design eye and a real talent for taking a space and transforming it without ripping out, remolding or demoing. She pulls together textures, colors and accents that compliment each other and the space perfectly and her take on my trailer is kinda extraordinary. I still can’t quite believe what she was able to accomplish with a small budget, a few throw pillows, some new bedding and a couple of table accents! Well, take a look for yourself and be amazed!

Hi Katherine! When I saw the before photos of the trailer I thought, “too much brown!”. The white bedspread and touches of soft pink really made the difference. I love the furry rugs on the floor, too. Not only does it look more like home, I bet it feels a little bit like home. Well done. Very classy and beautiful!

Thank-you for the personal insight. One of those things I have never thought about, working up the ranks. I know how much it means to have your privacy, as a professional Santa I spend the months of November and December away from home Our corporation supplies us with a nice suite and I am able to have my dogs with us. That alone is very important to my physic.

I love the makeover. I loved seeing Adalaide’s Mother’s Day gift on the tray! They were so much fun to make. I may have to use some of your ideas on my trailer.

    Ciaoooooo!!!
I’ve been following you for a while and for reasons of time and even technical (I lost what I wrote you) I could not replicate the post Transitions … I’m sorry …
I find you are an exceptional person from the human point of view, even though you are a very popular person, an acclaimed professional and a mother and wife, every time your post is amazed more and more how, with simplicity, you participate in your life , of your choices and, in this case, of the restyling of your new temporary home … Thank you for your inspirations … And above all, thank you for sharing … It would be great if sometimes we could inspire you … .

Reading your postings I feel to skin that we are very similar, we have about the same age, the same attention to the small things and the affections of the family, the dexterity in doing multiple activities that can make a home more welcoming and more our …

You have confirmed that there is always a need to upset things so that at first glance there is the wow effect, I really like the result, very light and delicate.
I glimpsed in the first video a ball of cotton, you will surely be amazed in a while with some of your project as promised …

I’m glad you could take your dog with you, so in addition to photos and memories of the little ones, you have a company and a source of real, concrete and disinterested affection that only animals can give 😉

I’ll give you a big good luck for your new project of work (of course I can not wait to know the background and some funny anecdote) and I can not wait to see you on the screen …

A strong hug from the deep south of Italy

You have just given me tons of inspiration.
My partner, our kid and I are moving to this new home on Friday which is smaller than the one we are living now. We had to downsize so that we can save money for a mortgage, and I was worried that I wasn’t being able to make the new place feel like home due to its size.

But after seeing this and how you have been able to redecorate your trailer and make it look cosy, I am overwhelmed with inspiration and I am looking forward to moving in now.
    Thank you.

    Dearest Katherine,
Thank you again and again for these posts! I’ve mentioned before and will mention again, – when I read your posts suddenly I don’t feel alone anymore ( all my friends are spread across the globe and currently where I live I have no friends), I feel that I am chatting with a friend! You are extraordinary, elegant , bursting with imagination rainbow and never ending inspiration, your soul is beyond beautiful! I am so thankful that o found your blog and was one of the first ones to subscribe! You open up to us -houradmirers, fans, followers, inspired by you ones, in a very heartwarming manner and make us feel touched as if you were here.
I love the photo frame ( not a frame but not sure what to call it)… you certainly have turned the place into a luxuriously comfortable nest where work will feel like leisure! Especially love the candles, change of “bedroom” and “bathroom” deco!
    Thank you!
    Truly yours
