Hideaway Place Space

The girls discovered a perfect hideaway spot in our rental in Toronto where they can sit and read, draw or journal all while feeling hidden away in their own special girl cave. I figured as long as they were truly enjoying it and using it often I’d spruce it up for them and make it a bit cozier and a little prettier. It was a super simple and inexpensive project that made me a hero for a day. If you have a little nook type space that goes virtually unused in your own home I encourage you to turn it into a hideaway for your little ones and be their hero…if only for an afternoon!Continue Reading

Home Office Space

While in Toronto I’ve had to figure a few things out in our temporary home to better support my family’s needs. Like adding a little girlie flare to the guest room that became my girls room once they arrived. Speaking of, once the kids descended I was forced to find and create a quite spot for myself where I could get some work done. Hence, the lovely and peaceful home office space I cobbled together. I borrowed a few pieces of furniture I found around our rented condo and purchases a couple of pretty accents from local shops. I’m pretty pleased with how the space turned out and have found it to be a perfect spot for working on the blog, writing, reading and generally getting inspired. I thought I’d share it with any of you work from home mamas out there in need of a little home office beautifying ideas. XOXO, KTContinue Reading

The Girls Toronto Bedroom

The Girls Toronto Bedroom
I’m renting a beautiful and perfectly located condo in the heart of Toronto while I’m working here and have had a blast bringing in a few small elements to make the space feel more like mine. My favorite room to work a little magic on was the girls room. The condo is beautiful, like I said, but very grown up and sophisticated in style. It’s three bedrooms and two and a half baths which means the girls have to share a space. I picked the larger of the two guest rooms so they’d have a little more room to wiggle and got right to work transforming it from sophisticated guest room to whimsical little girls room.Continue Reading

TV Trailer Makeover

Katherine Heigl In Her Trailer For TV Show Suits
Ever since I became an actor my home away from home has been my on set trailer. When I was a kid I started out in a honey wagon, which is a block of six or so closet sized rooms attached to one another on wheels. Once I’d earned my stripes I was upgraded to a triple banger (I realize how that sounds but I didn’t coin the phrase) which is three slightly larger rooms attached to one another on wheels. After the triple banger came the double banger. Yup, you guessed it, two even bigger rooms attached to one another on wheels. I have fond memories of my trailer neighbors, the other actors in the adjoining room, and being subject to their blaring heavy metal music (Brendan Fehr on Roswell listened exclusively to Metallica at ear splitting decibels) or their blaring afternoon television shows (Justin Chambers on Grey’s Anatomy loved him some Judge Judy.) I know you wouldn’t think it but I actually miss those shared trailer days and my co-star neighbors! I really love those guys! Anyway, these days, after almost 30 years in the business of being an actor I have upgraded to a single trailer all my own. Making my at work space feel homey, comfortable and peaceful is usually my first priority when I start a new job. Continue Reading
