Christie’s Cookies

This past Christmas my neighbor and friend Christie Halverson brought by a beautiful box of cookies for the kids and I to enjoy. They were almost too pretty to eat but eat them we did and let me tell you, they are the most delicious, crave worthy cookies I have ever had! Such delectable sweetness must be shared so Christie is opening a bakery in her native Texas where we can all get our fill of her unique confections in the store or online, thank the Lord! I’ve asked Christie if she’d be willing to be a guest contributor and share a Valentine’s inspired cookie recipe with us all and she graciously obliged. So without further ado, here’s Christie!

My Favorite Beauty Finds: Part 2

Katherine Heigl's Favorite Beauty Finds: Part 2
Perfect skin has always been a bit elusive for me. Well that’s not totally true. In my early teens I had flawless skin that I totally took for granted. Then I hit about 18 and was riddled with the most persistent, ugly, cystic acne imaginable. I was totally mortified by it, but unable to clear it up no matter how many facials, tonics, ointments or creams I tried. Finally, at my wits end I succumbed to my dermatologist’s pressure to try the much debated Accutane. I still suffer from the occasional hormonal breakout even now, and on top of the indignity of zits at 38, I’m also dealing with wrinkles. Living Life To The Fullest

I have a ranch up in Utah that is my little piece of heaven. We have 20 acres of perfect pasture land that is home to our nine horses, two donkeys, two goats, two mini horses, one pig, 5 cats and ten chickens.

When the dream to build the ranch began percolating, my mother (who is also my producing partner, business partner and best friend) and I talked endlessly about all our hopes for the land and what kind of ranch and lifestyle we wanted to create. We built a greenhouse and an organic garden, learned the art of bee keeping and read up on caring for chickens. Badlands Ranch (named after one of my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs that seemed inappropriately appropriate) is quite literally a dream come true.

But the truth is, you don’t need a ranch, farm, or even much land at all, to live life to the fullest. All you need is a little imagination, some inspiration and a desire to make the most out of as many moments as possible. I’ve found that the best way to be in the moment, instead of overwhelmed by it, is to have as many tips, tricks and hacks up your sleeve as possible! Here are just a few of my favorite time savers!Continue Reading
