I also know that for many people hosting is intimidating. And I totally get it, all the menu prep, the cooking, the cleaning and the multitasking of finishing the dishes with guests over. I admit it. I’ve been struggling lately to create, write, edit, photograph, and publish content for Those Heavenly Days while working on Suits, and trying to parent four kids and take care of my home. The blog has taken a bit of a back seat this last month, and that makes me sad. You guys mean the world to me. I savor our connection and hate to let you down by going quiet for too long. In all the joyful, slightly controlled chaos that is my life, heavenly days sometimes come along quite unexpectedly. The family takes a spontaneous hike, a long-ago friend pops up, I find the perfect antique at a flea market, the kids are happy just hanging together at home on a rainy day. Directing!

For those of you who don’t already know this, I happen to be married to an extremely talented musician who, on occasion, allows me to collaborate with him and direct his music videos. A year and a half ago I had the extreme pleasure of directing my first video of his, It’s Your Move, and kind of had the time of my life. Since then, whenever he has a new song to promote or an upcoming album to release I pitch him my video ideas for the single and hope he goes for it! It is so incredibly fun for me to work as a story teller in this new and exciting way. To step behind the camera and literally call the shots for a change. I’ve been acting since I was 11 years old and have found directing these short, three minute movies to be a wonderfully refreshing change of pace. I love to give Josh a hard time and joke that I’m the only one who will do these videos for free, but really he’s the one doing me a great favor and I could not be more grateful.Continue Reading
