I’m always reaching for a cozy throw to toss on my lap during a movie or while lounging around with a good book. Of  course the softer and plusher the throw the better! I love the throws my Grandmother knit; however, they are all a bit scratchy and itchy. A result, I believe, of the times and a lack of variety of yarns that we now have to choose from. I decided to retire my Oma’s afghan  (not to worry it’s just on the end of my guest room bed  –  not in the trash) and knit up a version of my own using today’s luscious, cloud like yarns.Continue Reading

Garter Gaiter

In an earlier post I talked about the beautiful color dipped cowl I did as a potential Christmas gift for my 14 year old niece. The cowl ended up being way too big for her, so I had to come up with another gift that would be perfect. I ended up making her this gorgeous and extremely easy Garter Gaiter from… yup Purl Soho. Color Dipped Cowl

I had so much fun doing the color dipped scarf and was thrilled with how beautifully it turned out, that I decided to modify the pattern and apply it to a cozy delicious cowl! I got the idea from Purl Soho’s Mountain Cowl pattern. On its own with no modifications the Mountain Cowl is glorious, but I was so in love with the color dipped effect I was sure it would be just as beautiful in a neck warmer!Continue Reading

My sister came up to Utah for the holidays this year and this was the mantra she and I kept repeating as we feverishly worked to finish our knit gifts for family members. For any of you parents or animated film fans out there it’s a take on Dori the fishes’ song just keep swimming from Finding Nemo (yeah now it’s gonna be stuck in your head too, sorry)!
