I admit it. I’ve been struggling lately to create, write, edit, photograph, and publish content for Those Heavenly Days while working on Suits, and trying to parent four kids and take care of my home. The blog has taken a bit of a back seat this last month, and that makes me sad. You guys mean the world to me. I savor our connection and hate to let you down by going quiet for too long. So please know that my heart’s with you, even when a new blog post seems a bit overdue.

In all the joyful, slightly controlled chaos that is my life, heavenly days sometimes come along quite unexpectedly. The family takes a spontaneous hike, a long-ago friend pops up, I find the perfect antique at a flea market, the kids are happy just hanging together at home on a rainy day. The girls love reading and crafting, and now… Mr. Man is old enough to get busy with his own projects!Continue Reading

To Bribe Or Not To Bribe: Encouraging My Kids Best Behavior

Katherine Heigl with daughters Naleigh and Adalaide
Before I had children I would have sworn I would never bribe them to behave, to pitch in or to be respectful. Almost ten years into momming that inexperienced opinion has gone up in flames. To all the mothers and fathers out there I was secretly judging when witnessing the “I’ll buy you a lollipop if you get off the ground and stop screaming” technique…I deeply apologize. It occasionally worked but it never really brought the best out of my kids and wasn’t really the incentive they needed to encourage positive behavior. Sure no one wants to piss off mom, or few sane people do, but is that really what I wanted my kids to be thinking when good versus bad choices arise? “Don’t piss off mom, don’t piss off mom, don’t piss off mom.” Continue Reading

Everything Under The Sun For Summer

Adalaide, Naleigh and Katherine Heigl on the beach in swimwear
I became aware of Poppys Collection after purchasing this totally adorable and durable sweat suit for Little Man from a pop up in my local promenade here in Toronto. The lady helping me in the pop up encouraged me to check out their website for more fabulous kid finds and once I did, I fell totally and completely in love with their curated list of wonderfulness. So I asked if they’d be willing to be a guest editor this month and share some wonderfulness with all of you! I just love the uniqueness of the collection and that everything is lovingly crafted by true artisans (you should all know how I feel about artisans by now!) It brings me so much joy to support small businesses, especially ones run by moms.  On top of all the good feels, I’m also getting handcrafted, unique and beautiful products to spoil my kiddos with. It’s truly a win/win.Continue Reading
