Enter Spring!
It has been a long cold, snowy winter in Utah this year. It was glorious, all that snow, during the holidays. A magical winter wonderland throughout January, and a skiers dream come true throughout March. Now that we’ve officially made it to May it’s become a bit of a drag! Yes we are still getting snow and when it’s not snow it’s rain and when it’s not rain it’s mud. I can not begin to tell you how excited I am for the weather to finally lighten up and bring with it the warm grass scented breezes of spring. In anticipation of those sunny days, that are surely on their way, I decided to take the Christmas wreath off my front door ( yeah I realize how late it is), pack up the plaid lap blanket and wintery throw pillows from the front porch chair; and do a bit of spring decorating. Maybe if I officially say adieu to winter the weather will follow suit!
I hit up my local World Market and Michael’s for a few supplies and some decor items. I knew I wanted bright, fresh and spring inspired. I found the throw pillow first and decided to decorate around it. I loved the bright green palm leaf and that it reminded me of what I love most about the change of seasons. That fresh cut grass smell and the almost chartreuse color of the trees new buds. I found the lovely faux fern wreaths next and had a vision of decorating the front door with several wreaths instead of just the traditional one. I grabbed up a ceramic vase and a couple of ceramic lanterns that perfectly complimented my green theme. From Michael’s I picked up moss and a twig wreath for the DIY project I had in mind.
All that was left to do was the actual decorating. The only problem was that it would not stop snowing and as desperate as I am to usher in some spring weather I didn’t have it in me to spruce up the front entry while it stormed behind me! Finally this week the temperature rose a few degrees and the sun made an appearance, so I jumped right to it before it started to snow again!
Now I have a lovely little spot to sit and enjoy my coffee in the morning or my glass of wine in the evening, while the sun warms my face. At least until the next surprise snow storm!

May 8, 2017 at 10:50 amI love all the different shades of green you were able to use and all inspired by the one pillow! We all seem to be having surprising weather. Here in Texas we’re enjoying some pretty rare cool mornings & evenings for this time of year (so I’ve been enjoying my coffee & a glass of wine outdoors).
