Oh Baby!

Blue is for...BOY!!!

Sooooo….the Kelley family received some very exciting news recently and I’ve been dying to share it with you all. We are expecting a third addition to our tribe! It was totally unexpected but thrilling nonetheless. Naleigh and Adalaide are over the moon and can not wait to spoil their new sibling rotten and of course Josh and I are full of high hopes and bubbling anticipation. The whole pregnancy thing is new to me but the thrill of having a baby is not. We’ve known for awhile that we wanted to add to our family and frankly didn’t really care how we chose to do that. We were considering adoption again, fostering, or pregnancy if possible. Seeing as I have never been pregnant and as my OB/GYN reminded me last year, I’m of advanced maternal age, I wasn’t sure pregnancy was even in the cards for us. Turns out it was very much in the cards!

I can’t wait to share my pregnancy experience with you here on Those Heavenly Days and hopefully get some advice from all you experienced gestaters (yes I made that word up). I’ve learned so much already and know there’s even more to learn as this baby grows. I’ve found some great tricks to combat pregnancy indigestion, apps that have not only kept me informed on the development of our baby but have offered reassurance and relief when I’m feeling nervous or afraid, and great blogs, and books on healthy pregnancy nutrition.

This is truly an amazingly blessed time, waiting for the child you’ve been dreaming of to make their appearance. Though I’ve never been a particularly patient person, my experience of waiting for Naleigh taught me a lot in that department. So I will wait and eagerly anticipate, hopefully with grace, gratitude and a good attitude (ummm pregnancy hormones are real people.) Maybe this time the waiting won’t be so hard because I’ll have all of you to share  the laughter, tears and joys of my  experience with. So stay tuned…XOXO, KT

I'm near sighted and without my glasses, which I forgot, I couldn't see the little bugger on the wall mounted screen. Thankfully I had my prescription sunglasses with me!
Ultimately I was glad I had the sunglasses on so no one would see me crying.
This little fella is just floating around waiting for his cue to enter!

The little photo with the feet just made me cry. I’m an emotional person. And as someone who at 30 years old and has just whitnessed the arrival of my very first niece and first baby into the family in 24 years, I feel your excitement and share it wholeheartedly. You are already a wonderful Mama and your heart will only grow. Congratulations to all of you, and thanks for sharing your news with us. 🙂 ~Laura.

My best pregnancy advice… Don’t tell anyone the name until after you have him, because everyone has an opinion that will ruin it for you. For some reason, once you’ve had the kid…they keep their mouths shut, even if they knew a serial killer with that name. Also, the hormones can make you VERY interesting. Every time before I opened my mouth, or freaked out completely, I’d ask myself, “Is this you, or the pregnant you?” and if it was the latter, I’d give myself a timeout and/or a cookie.

I hope you love being pregnant as much as I did. Yes, it can be super weird and, at times, uncomfortable, but it’s also the coolest thing in the world to feel that kid move, and know you’re participant in a miracle. 🙂

Tip #1: Get a copy of “The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy”… funny, full of info, honest and everything you ever wanted to know. I’ve bought a copy for each of my girlfriends as they’ve gotten pregnant over the years and it’s always just wonderful.
Tip #2: You sound pretty in touch with your mind/heart/soul… so just let go of worry and enjoy it. I wish I had done more of that, now that I look back (mine are 14 and 10 and I am trying not to mourn the loss of the little ages too much!).

That’s wonderful news!! I also had to deal with terrible indigestion while pregnant. Boy it was awful. I could barely eat anything. I would have a few bites and I would later lay on the couch feeling SO full. My cravings ended up being soups. They were nutritious, comforting and did not make me feel too full. I was nervous that I didn’t eat enough as I did not gain much weight until the third trimester. However, it was enough for my little boy to grow. Not sure if you are using the PC Medical Center but they were great!! Best care I could have wished for.

Best pregnancy advice? Remember that every phase has a beginning and an end. You may be miserable one day or one trimester or just in one moment, but ultimately that day or trimester or even moment will come to an end. Enjoy it, share it and remember every second. It’s just the beginning of an amazing relationship, and this is how you will bond and grow together.
I wish you guys the absolute best ❤️❤️

Congratulations to you and your family! How did I not know that you had a blog up until reading an article about your great news? Some advice I’d offer here, be sure to take lots of baby bump pictures, and do a belly cast, and buy one of those little machines that allows you to hear the heartbeat of your little growing boy. Start looking into birth plans and find the one that works best for you and your husband and the people who will participate on the day. So much has changed from when our mothers had us that no longer are we required to do anything we don’t feel comfortable with. Keep a pregnancy journal. Pinterest will be your best research tool from what to pack to what to take from the hospital, LOL look up frozen sanitary napkins Popsicles it sounds gross I know but it works. I’m just such a big fan and thank you for allowing all of us to join you in this way on this journey.

I guess if I could recommend a book it would be an Ida May book…her book SAVED me in the labor pain management area. I had the third one with zero drugs and it was easier than the first two with…. seriously, even if you do a hospital birth, get a Doula and Ida May’s book!!! Then when he comes out, not such a great experience, go the epidural, however when you hold him in your arms and look at him and think, w.o.w. we made this, it’s amazing. I also loved following along with the development. Knowing each week what was growing and developing in my child was awe inspiring. So make sure you do that! I had a book that took me through each week, however no doubt there’s an app out there for it now. Enjoy chick. xx

Congratulations. You never know what nature has in store for you. I had 3 boys, and we had decided that that was our family. However when I was 44 I thought I was going through early menopause only to find I was expecting a little girl. She’s 19 now and we have done lots together. When she was 3 days old I was at the supermarket with her in the little bed thing on the trolley. A lady said to me ‘what a lovely little grandaughter’, well I turned to another customer who heard and said ‘I only just had her, do I look that bad?’

Congratulations! I’ve been pregnant twice and the only advice I can give is to try to enjoy every second, and rest as much as you can. It’s amazing what your body is capable of and how wonderful (and tiring and emotional) it is to feel your baby grow. Oh – and get the epidural!! Looking forward to reading your pregnancy journey.

Congratulations! That’s amazing news. Wishing you and your family so much joy and happiness! I had a baby boy 18 months ago, and am now 36 weeks pregnant with another boy! I have done it all alone, so if you ever need advice – I will share! Would be great to actually share this with someone and provide advice! Both pregnancies were COMPLETELY different – this one is the hardest thing I have ever done, especially looking after my little Timmy. But when I was pregnant with him – it was a breeze! Congratulations again, you have a wonderful family and everything will be amazing. Jealous!! Take care xoxox

Ugh!! So I checked out the alpha mom calendar after suggesting it to you and SHE CHANGED HER WEBSITE!! It’s been a year since I saw it. So disappointing. Why change a great thing?!? The pics and stories she had before were so funny!

I didn’t read through it all but I’m sad the pictures aren’t what they used to be (they were so funny!) ah well, the words part might still be the same.

Congrats to you and your family! I am 36 and I have a 15 month old daughter–it took me a couple years and a lot of heartache to conceive and successfully carry a pregnancy to term. I was so grateful for the opportunity that I didn’t even mind the all day every day sickness, twice daily Heparin shots, and constant monitoring. It was all worth it!

As for my favorite things, I’d have to say baby wearing–my favorite are ring slings because they are very portable and easy to keep in a diaper bag. I also have gotten a lot of mileage out of my Ergo 360 (baby can face forward and my kid likes to look around). Now that she’s bigger we have started using the toddler Tula. You can find great accessories (drool pads, drool bibs, hoods, etc.) on Etsy!

My other favorite thing are these magnetic clips that hold the straps of the car seat out of the way while you position the baby in the seat–absolutely invaluable to me. The brand name is Short stack jack and here is the link to their page http://www.shortstackjack.com/
Someone randomly gave me the pink ones at my baby shower (I had never heard of them) and lo and behold they were the best “parenting hack” of all!
    XOXO,
    Amanda

Congrats!!! Enjoy every second of it, including the food!! I tried to “be good” and workout and eat healthy, but ultimately I realized that your body craves what it needs for that precious baby! I was a total cupcake fiend, that’s also how I predicted I was having a sweet little girl . Anything is fine in moderation . And rest/sleep/veg as much as you want, you’ll be a busy momma soon, once again! Happy pregnancy!!

Maybe you would like a comment from a man. I helped my wife deliver my first daughter. My wife had been born on a reservation and was influenced by that tribes attitude towards birth. She delivered all four of our children w/o any medical assistance @ home. She was so beautiful… Anyway, she ate healthy and lots of crackers. She stayed busy and worked thru discomfort. By our fourth child, one only knew she was pregnant because of her belly(haha). She delivered Krystal by herself. She had been inspired by our friend who delivered @4am and was helping her in the garden @7am. You are a strong and beautiful woman. You are complete and enjoy every aspect of your pregnancy. Believe it or not, but you will always remember your gestater experience as amazing.

    Dear Katherine & family,
congratulations to your pregnancy. I’m so happy for you! You have the excuse but my english is not the best. Hope you can understand what I mean. I always liked that you adopted two chidren because my hubby and me try to adopt to or rather we tried to become biological parents for many years. at the end we decided to try to adopt a child. But it’s not so easy with the administrative barriers. but than we became approved adoption canditates. that means that we are now waiting of the call from the adoptions service (don’t know how it to cal in english). it can be true that we can be parents for a child or we wouldn’t be never parents. And because of this way of our life I’m very happy for every people who become a parent – no matter in what way – biological or with adoption! and when I’m reading stories like yours I’m very happy for you that this will happend to you! Because for you and your family as people like any other and because of the reason I like your work! like your movies …. And I like your way to live with all these crafting and handmade things. Because I’m a knitter and crocheter and I like gardening and cooking and baking! And I like how you give other people a sight of your common life! thank you for that!

Congratulations! On your pregnancy & your soon to be addition to your wonderful family. Many blessings are sent your way. May each milestone of your pregnancy be filled with joy in anticipation of your baby boy’s arrival.

I just started a recent twitter account & started following you, which led me to your blog. I am so glad I found it! I have been a big fan of yours, from the beginning of Grey’s Anatomy. I was disappointed that your last TV show was canceled, as I was a dedicated fan. I thought it was a great show. I loved seeing two strong lead actresses!

As another commenter mentioned, I too hated that you were lambasted in the media as being “difficult”…(major eye roll!) I’m just so sick of hearing that crap… sick of strong women being vilified, yet men somehow don’t get that treatment. I loved it! when I heard that Alfre Woodard make the comment “F*** em!” I love it when women stand strong for each other! GO GIRL POWER!!!!!

I also share your passion for animal’s & have been a lifelong rescuer. Over the past 14 yrs it’s been mostly cats/kittens. It all started w/ finding one orange tabby in a Home Depot parking lot. I was then educated quickly about the huge issue of abandonment of cats/kittens (worse than dogs). I have dedicated my life to rescuing as many as possible, dedicated to spay/neuter efforts in my community (350 & counting!) of feral cats, as well as maintaining care for many many feral colonies (feeding, providing shelter & monitoring for new comers).

I look forward to following your blog. I love your sensibilities, they resonate with me, deeply. I dream of having a wonderful ranch like you do, someday (fingers crossed) I hope to be able to have a feral cat sanctuary on that ranch as well.

I wish you & Josh & your precious kids, all the best Katherine.

    Be well,
    Cheryl Bond

I never thought I’d be writing this message but after 4 years of TTC, severe endometriosis and scarring, I was told that IVF was the only option. This was something we could not afford and had almost given up hope of becoming parents. A friend of mine recommended fountain water to me and persuaded me to contact him. To cut a long story short, he did spiritual deeds for me, within 9 weeks I was pregnant (naturally!!!) and gave birth to our son in April. I am writing this message for those women who are at the stage I was at. Obsessed by babies, envious of pregnant women, depressed with no light at the end of the tunnel. Give fountain waters a go, and hopefully you’ll have the same success that I have had. Here is his email address fountainwatercoven@yahoo.com and his mobile number on whatsapp is +2349054913842

Take time to put your feet up and enjoy being pregnant as much as you can. Video tape your belly when you are almost due. You’ll see hands and feet trying to push through your belly skin and you’ll have a keepsake to remember.

I love your blog! A few tips that may help:
Have someone do a video from a side angle and photos of the baby’s birth, it goes by so fast! Trust me, I have 50,000+ pictures of my three grand babies they are Savannah 4.5, Callie 3 & Maddox 2! I was in the delivery room with all them! If you need a photographer just let me know.
Ginger helps if you get nauseous, digestion and inflammation. I cut a pice the size of a nickel and add it to my tea.

Flax Seed Lactation cookies are great in helping produce breast milk. I have included the recipe below.
