About a month before I found out I was pregnant I decided to turn the nursery into my craft room. I mean no one was using it right? Adalaide had moved out a year earlier and Josh and I weren’t planning to expand our family for at least another 6 months to a year so I figured why let the space just sit there empty and unused. Thankfully I did have the foresight not to make any big permanent changes so when baby boy Kelley arrives I can pretty easily convert the space back into a nursery. All though I love it so much as my craft room I’m not sure I’ll be able to give it up! Our boy may have to share his room with my sewing machine!
I’m always reaching for a cozy throw to toss on my lap during a movie or while lounging around with a good book. Of course the softer and plusher the throw the better! I love the throws my Grandmother knit; however, they are all a bit scratchy and itchy. A result, I believe, of the times and a lack of variety of yarns that we now have to choose from. I decided to retire my Oma’s afghan (not to worry it’s just on the end of my guest room bed – not in the trash) and knit up a version of my own using today’s luscious, cloud like yarns.Continue Reading
Last summer my mother gifted us an outdoor television. It was incredibly generous of her and felt very extravagant. Our good friend Jeremy, who just happens to be an AV guy, mounted it on a moveable stand so that we could wheel the T.V down to the pool for truly indulgent summer days. Though the thought was there, we never actually followed through and hadn’t used the T.V once. We moved it inside during the winter months where it sat idly by waiting for it’s day in the sun. When the weather finally turned sunny and warm I decided to put our gift to good use and arranged our first ever outdoor family and friends movie night.Continue Reading
I’m a huge fan of Gina Homolka and her blog Skinnytaste. My mother bought me her cookbook a while ago and it’s been an absolute lifesaver. She has so many wonderful family dinner recipes that taste amazing but cut back on the calories and fat. As a working actress I’ve always had to be mindful of my weight and staying trim but now that I’m pregnant, it’s become even more important to me to eat healthy nutritious foods that will nourish me and the baby. The beauty of Skinnytaste is that I get it all. Healthy family friendly meals that are delicious, nutritious and low in added fat and calories. One of the Kelley family favorites is her cheeseburger casserole. I’ve made it so many times that recently I decided to make a few changes to Gina’s recipe to shake things up. Continue Reading
July 4th has always been a big holiday in my family. We gather, we eat, we celebrate and we revel in the sweetness of summer and all that it entails. Up in Utah July 4th marks the true, we don’t have to worry about frost or waking up to a late spring snowstorm, start of summer. This year was an especially hard, cold and snowy winter so we are truly grateful for the longer days filled with suntans and outdoor activities this July has brought us. Continue Reading
